Secours Islamique France SIF field teams identified and finalized 25-livelihood beneficiaries’ shopkeepers & engaged them in the provision of the Ramadan Food Pack during 2021.
Mr. Jehanzeb, the resident of village Azad Khan Kalay Peshawar KP. He has 2 wives and 14 children. He is running a small shop in front of his house and greasing his family palms by providing them food, clothing, and other daily routine use things.
Mr. Jehanzeb started his shop business in 2001; He was working out of a very small shop. He was running his business in a mud house shop but when the SIF team visited him and discussed the project and modality and convinced by their idea that he could provide SIF Ramadan food items big chucks locally. Secours Islamique France SIF conviction and determination helped Jehanzeb overcome insurmountable odds and become the medium type of supplier of food commodities to SIF beneficiaries.
Mr. Jehanzeb now scales up his running business of shop and constructed two additional rooms one for shop and one for storeroom where he is currently running his shop. He earned a profit of 1,95,000/- PKRs. He got this profit by providing Ramadan food packs and investing 12.6 million PKRs. to SIF beneficiaries.
One day, Mr. Jehanzeb heard that SIF going to implement the project to support livelihood beneficiaries’ small businesspeople from target villages of Union Council Panam Dheri to providing their business opportunity by supplying Ramadan Food Packs with mobilization advance to project beneficiaries in his village.
Jehanzeb took the challenge upon himself, and with the help of close friends and family, Jehanzeb managed to collect the amount to make the initial deposit to purchased out the required and specified food commodities in the shop. Putting his head and fortunes together he started to accomplish the with his son and procuring the food commodities as per SIF designated food packs caseload shop in Azad Khan Kalay, Jehanzeb began his journey as a supplying the food packs by investing 1.26 million PKRs.
Within three to fifteen days, Mr. Jehanzeb prepared Ramadan Food Packs as per SIF requirement and distributed them to Ramadan beneficiaries which leaving him amazed. From that point, there was no looking back. Jehanzeb grew his business as well as constructed two rooms one for shop one for storeroom and earned 1,95,000 PKRs profit too.
SIF ,a PHF member organisation, initially brought these small level shopkeepers on board and their capacity built through business management & marketing strategies pieces of training. They motivated for incremental stages of business and provided a business opportunity to supplying Ramadan Food Packs for SIF-designed Ramadan activity. Their first journey started when they engaged to procure food commodities for Ramadan beneficiaries in district Peshawar.
